Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Aug 14
The 1999 Barolo Vecchie Vigne is a real beauty today. Round and textured in the glass, the 1999 captures the best of the artisan, modern style prevalent in La Mora during this time. In 1999 the Vecchie Vigne was a blend of fruit from both Giachini and Rocche, so there is less site-specific character, but it is the wine’s pure textural beauty that stands out most. Soft, silky and exceptionally polished, the 1999 impresses for its balance and class. Hints of mocha, espresso, plums and cloves resonate on the finish. At the time, Corino's Vecchie Vigne was made from old-vine parcels within Rocche dell'Annunziata and Giachini.

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
